So we need to be very much careful in choosing a right kind of cleaning substance for our terracotta cookware.
Try not to use a soap or detergent to clean as they will eventually get soaked into the pores of the clay and then will leach into your food the next time you will cook in it. Also do not wash your earthenware in extreme temperatures water as it may cause a crack in your pot .To remove the stains try to use very soft brush to clean the pot. Whenever you clean the pot use little bit baking soda or salt as a cleanser with a scrub sponge and allow the earthen pot to soak overnight in the sink in water mixed with baking soda or salt. Using baking soda will allow you to get rid of strong odor and stubborn strains. After submerging it thoroughly, take it out and wash it under running water with a soft scrubber. Handling mold formulation in clay pots:
Though it is very rare that you will find any kind of mold formulation in our terracotta products. But still sometimes during storage period because of some reasons you can observe the formulation of mold. To get rid of this you can sprinkle some baking soda inside the pot, then thoroughly rinse your earthenware with warm water using a brush to remove the mold. If the pores of the clay pot become clogged, then the pot should be soaked in boiling water for about 30 minutes.
